Adventures of Frankentea, ctd

I like to use the random teabags Republic of tea sends me.

1 bag of Republic of Tea Chocolate Strawberry caffeeine free red-something-rooibos?
3 bags of Trader Joe's decaf irish breakfast

Since the choc-strawberry smelled a little like a weird valentines scratch and sniff, I cut the steep time to a mere 5 minutes.

Steeped in a container half full of boiling water.
Removed teabags.
Filled container rest of way with cold (filtered - no schyukill punch here) water. Then chilled overnight.

Results: Well, it's definitely weird, but it's not awful. I'm not sure bitmonger will drink it, though. I'm not sure he'll even try it. He was pretty skeptical. Might work sweetened. Chocolate flavor fairly pronounced. Drinkable, but weird.

Why does the Republic of Tea send you random teabags?

Why does that sound like a horrible video game experience?

Why does bitmonger hate chocolate so much?

And lastly, why the hell am I still awake?

They tend to come with the catalog. They're free samples to entice me to buy different flavors. This did in fact work for them with the Orange Blossom White Tea random teabag.

Maybe you're thinking Cooking Mama?

He likes chocolate. He's not keen on flavored tea.

This, grasshopper, you must answer yourself.

You are braver than I. I would be wary of any sort of Chocolate flavored tea. I love chocolate, but I dislike artificial chocolate flavoring for the most part. I love tea, all different kinds. Yet, the idea of chocolate tea makes me grimace.

Sounds intriguing but slightly scary. This coming from someone who likes Celestial Seasoning's chocolate raspberry tea (which does need sweetener).

i heart frankentea

(erm, but i'm sitting over here on the "not gonna" bench for this particular batch)

i saved up all my individual samples and sent them off to the folks running an afternoon tea for wicked faire this year

for some reason, i really love having the lil colorful packets around and can hardly ever bring myself to open 'em up

am still dreaming about the pomegranate joy from a few weeks ago

~happy sigh~

i'd gladly go thru a number of true monsters when yummy possibilities turn up far more often

and, of course, when i say "i'd go thru" i mean: i'll stand over here and make wrinkly nose faces while i sniff out the potential tasty mixes ~chuckle~
